Elena Welch

Elena Welch is a jazz and blues vocalist greatly influenced by her 10 fun and formative years of living in the music city of Chicago, Illinois. She has a degree in voice from Columbia College Chicago where she studied under the direction of William Russo, Stan Kenton’s musical director. She attended the Stanford Jazz Vocal Program headed up by jazz greats, Madeline Eastman and Sheila Jordan. Elena has lived and performed in Chicago, San Francisco, Sonoma County, the Big Island of Hawaii, and Portland Oregon. She often returns to her beloved “old haunts” for bookings with her favorite ensembles. Elena has also performed in New York, New Orleans, Rome, Paris, and throughout Japan. Joe De Gregorio

We are honored to feature “Joe” De Gregorio, Italian pianist, composer and vocalist. Joe is from Rome, Italy and the winner of the 2009 Luca Flores Jazz Competition, the 2015 Monte Carlo International Competition for Jazz Soloist to mention a few of his accomplishments. Joe has toured throughout Europe, North Africa and the United States. His sound melds jazz, Italian operatic melos, and gospel. Don’t miss his expressive and rhythmic interpretations of the classics. Donna Lorraine

We are excited to bring to Calabria the enchanting chanteuse prominent on the Parisian jazz scene for over two decades, Donna Loraine. Donna successfully marries the smooth, smoky vocals of bygone jazz greats with a youthful “joie de vivre” and playful spirit. This girl can swing and she’s “a real lover of the melody,” confirms jazz legend, Johnny O’Neil. She’ll take you from the juiciest ballad, to a sizzling rhumba, to a playful swing… and beyond. Vito Procopio Jazz Quartet

Please welcome this all-star quartet whose founder is a maestro from the jazz department of the Institute of Music Studies of P. I. Tchaikovsky in Nocera Terinese, Italy. This ensemble features Vito Procopio of Cortale on saxophones, Jo Di Nardo of Cosenza on guitar, Mimmo De Paola of Montepaone on bass, and Vincenzo Gallo of Calabrian on drums. Don’t miss their opening feature on Friday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm where they showcase their unique bluesy grooves. This stellar quartet will be doing some heavy lifting for the next two days serving as the “secret sauce” rhythm section supporting other headliners. Catch their groundbreaking opening set.

Antonio Tufo

We can’t wait to introduce you to accordionist, Antonio Tufo, an accomplished 17-year-old from Verbicaro. Antonio has been studying the accordion with the maestro Salvatore Cauteruccio of Belvedere Marittimo for eleven years. He has received many national awards performing as both a soloist and with an orchestra. He takes the Italian troubadour tradition to a whole new level and colors his approach with a modern feel that is uniquely his own. Antonio will be backed by the stellar Vito Procopio Jazz Quartet from Nocera Terinese, Italy. Don’t miss his fun set that is full of tunes you will know and full of one-of-a-kind surprises that will delight your hungry ears.

We are excited to announce that Ray Brown, Jr. will join us for our virgin voyage of the Tyrrhenian Jazz Festival in September at Santa Domenica Talao. Yes, that is the son of jazz legends, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Brown. Mr. Brown wisely has created his own unique space on the scene. He will share some of his brand-new, fresh-off-the-press, original material and innovative arrangements with us at the 2022 festival. Ray will perform with stellar Roman pianist, Joe De Gregorio, the Vito Procopio Jazz Quartet and the set is guaranteed to swing Friday night attendees. Andrea Paternostro Quartet

Meet award-winning saxophonist Andrea Paternostro from Cassano All’Ionio (CS) and his red hot quartet starring Vittorio Esposito on keys, Gabriele Pagliano on double bass, and Stephano Riccio on the drums. This ensemble is full of heavy weights… young players blessed with serious chops. Andrea has collaborated with musicians such as Joan Chamorro, Walter Ricci and many others. He is well decorated with awards: first prize in the Paolo Randazzo in the soloist category; 2020 finalist in the Chicco Bettinardi national competition for soloists to name a few. Elena Welch & Gabriele Pagliano

Enjoy a mini-set where Chicago vocalist, Elena Welch, carves out a mini set with the Andrea Paternostro Quartet that features stellar bassist Gabriele Pagliano. Gabriele is from Salerno, Italy. He is currently studying at the Conservatory of Rome “Santa Cecilia”. Gabriele is particularly active in free improvisation jazz and is co-founder of the collective “Tabula Arsa”. This 30-year old has a stack of accolades too long to list. Gabriele has recorded for television, directed by Maestro Alberto Verones. Donna Lorraine & Stefano Riccio

Our Parisian jazz vocalist, Donna Loraine, will join top-notch accompanist Joe De Gregorio and the Andrea Paternostro rhythm section. Donna has selected material to feature percussionist, Stefano Riccio. Stefano hails from Cassano Allo Ionio. He has studied at the Conservatory of Cosenza and the Siena Jazz University; studying under such important artists as Gregory Hutchinson, Maurizio Giammarco, Filippo Vignato and more. Stefano participates in the “Umbria Jazz Clinics” and various Masterclasses. He is currently featured in three ensembles: “Alekadi Quartet”, “T.A.L. Jazz Trio”, and “Kairos”. Don’t miss this international intersection of serious skills and soulful interpretations.
